Sunny and Bright

I really hate to admit it but I think I’m affected by sunshine…..I NEED IT.  It has been amazing these last couple of days because I have been filled with energy.  Yesterday I got all my herbs started in their own little pots – plant food and water as all.  Went for a long walk and picked up groceries – just loved being out in the sunshine.  This morning I finished my second story for Chicken Soup for the Soul – Inspiration for Writers.  The first story I sent in early April was called An Answered Prayer and the story I sent today for the same book is called The Epilogue – Saving the Best for Last.  Since the inspiration for the story is my friend Joe Burke I called him (in Florida) to read him the story.  Needless to say...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH the rally is over

What a great time in LaConner, Washington.  The group welcomed me with open arms even though I hadn’t seen them since Leavenworth, Washington last September.  Everyone was so friendly.  Met a few new people, took 165 pictures – 104 on the beach at the campground.  The scenery was fantastic with lots of flowers and driftwood.  I’m hoping some of them will make great bookmarks.  The rest of the pictures were taken in LaConner.  A very picturesque little town with many interesting shops but I was there 2 years ago and walked in and out of most of them.  Didn’t get out to the flower fields but that’s okay.  I already had over a hundred pictures and use many of them. The trip home was easy since it was only about 75 miles and all...

Off and Running

Another busy week – always is at tax time – but that’s done now.  Found a new lunch spot yesterday and it was fantastic.  The Compass Point hotel on King George, near the first skytrain station has a little Bistro and the food was fantastic.  This was Edith’s second visit – she was there last Monday and just had to go back.  She said it was as good the second time as the first.  Oh, forgot to add – and VERY reasonable. Since it was still raining (yesterday and today) after lunch we went to the  99 nursery (again on King George) and while Edith picked up some ready-made plants I purchased seeds for this year’s herb garden.  I’ll get them started in the house so I can limit their water. From there we drove to Oh...

Busy Week

It has been a busy week and it should get busier if I’m going to get everything done that I need to get done before the end of the month.  Currently finishing up income tax – of course – and need to get applications in for the 2 photography contests that I’m planning on entering.  I also have to do my HST by the end of this month – of course. Yesterday I manned the booth for the Federation of BC Writers at Douglas College in New West.  I’m hoping the headache will go away sometime soon.  What a terrible place to get stuck for more hours then I signed up for but I did sell one book and four bookmarks so it definitely paid for my day including the parking.  Other then the people who signed up to do a reading there was ALMOST...

Still Home

I can’t believe a month has gone by and I’m still here and reasonably happy about it. A few days ago I transferred all the beads from my dining room table and put them on my huge desk in my bedroom.  The desk was becoming junky with no real purpose for it.  Having my supplies close by is an important part of my beading and I’m getting a lot of work done – at least one or two bookmarks an evening.  Developed a couple of new patterns as well.  After setting up the book and bookmark display at the Newton Branch of the Surrey Library I discovered that I was running low and since I’m working at LitFest in New Westminister this Sunday and 4 days in May at the Rodeo in Cloverdale I want at least a hundred or so on hand.  As they say:...

And now the rest of the story

About 4:00 the next afternoon I received the call from the Ford dealer and his opening statement was:  “It definitely wasn’t your imagination” and he was really puzzled as to how I actually got the vehicle started since upon checking the second time both batteries were dead.  Everything was clogged or gummied up and had to be flushed, repaired or changed.  The cost would be $1,100 and I told him to go ahead with the work.  In the end they had forgotten to mention the tax so all in it came to about $1,400.  They threw in a bottle of diesel fuel additive and told me that would keep the same problem at bay.   I’ve had the truck since it was new and if this is the first time I’ve had this sort of problem then it took 15 YEARS to...
