YouTube Junkie

It is definitely time for me to admit I AM A YouTube JUNKIE. I wasn’t always this way but my niece Rhonda helped me see the light about my addiction … well … she should because she’s the one who told me about the YouTube videos in the first place.  I told her I was doing some beadwork and wanted to learn something new but didn’t know where to start.

There is a YouTube video for everything you’ll ever need, she said.  If there isn’t a video, you don’t need it.

I took her advice, found the video and have been hooked ever since.  And I know I’m addicted because last week I told her: I spent the first hour of my day (from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM) watching a video on “how to make a wizard’s wand.  How fun is that, I said. Can you say “addiction”? I asked.  To which she replied:  “You are way beyond that.”

So I’ll repeat:  I am a YouTube Junkie and darn proud of it. I am heavily into bead and wire works and am now creating some fabulous new rings and things and (thankfully) they will be sold at the Surrey Art Centre. I definitely want to give a big shoutout to some of the people I’m following on YouTube.  I started with tutorials by OXANA and followed her through some of the easier pieces before going on to creating my own designs. I have always been good with colour and colour combinations.  When I was ready for something a little more artsy-fartsy I started looking at the tutorials for GO ART YOURSELF … I’m not making that up.  The work is gorgeous but I had trouble following the instructions and couldn’t wind the wire like they wanted me too.  I still look at their videos and, someday when I’m ready … yada, yada, yada.

And then I fell into YVONNE WILLIAMS videos.  She has a video on everything from gardening to yoga to clay fairy houses and (finally) to bead work and wire weaving AND while her work is superb, she is THE GEM.  Her tutorials are easy to follow and she gives you leeways to change colour, shape and size and while her work is perfection she makes it look easy … I can’t talk about her without raving. She is a true professional artist.  Check them all out and you too can become a YouTube Junkie – if you are not already one.  HAVE A GREAT DAY Everyone. Check out a couple of my creations below.   Joei
