September Update

We are in the second week of September and the weather remains spectacular – have to admit I’m a little tired of the heat.  Jumping into the pool every afternoon is rather pleasant but I have no energy for anything else and I want to start moving around without water around me.

Edith and I have done our fair share to keep the bead companies in business.  Last week we went out to Michael’s in Langley, had a good look around and decided that they were DEFINITELY much to expensive.  Left empty-handed, went to Boston Pizza for lunch and just as we were pulling into the parking lot I spotted a Fabric Land in the middle of the parking lot.  I asked if they had beads and we decided to take a few minutes, walk over and have a look.  To make a long story short – all their beads were on sale.  Edith spent $47.00 and I spent $122.00.  Czech Republic beads were on sale from $9.00 a vial to $3.00 a vial.  Their packaged beads on sale from $4.65 to $1.50 per package.  How could we not restock.  A couple of days later I dropped off 70 bookmark pictures at Staples to be laminated on my way to Fabric Land in Surrey for another $25.00 worth of beads and have been enjoying my nightly fix of beading.  I now doing double strands.   I now have over 70 bookmarks made and looking forward to my first craft show on October 1st.   They are spectacular.  I really seem to be using that word a lot but that’s the kind of summer it’s been.

Just thought I would insert an example of my work so you can all oooooooohhhhhhhhhh and aahhhhhhhhhhhh.

That’s one of my double stranded bookmarks and I’m going to make sure that all my craft shows are over with before I upload them onto my website.  There is much to much work involved and not much money so if I get too many orders it’ll bore me to death so best I do them for the shows.

I have once again heard from Chicken Soup for the Soul.  They congratulated me again and this e-mail had to do with my part in the promoting of the book.  They should be sending me 10 copies of the book early and I’ll contact the local newspapers at that time.  I absolutely LOVE the promoting end of this business.  I have also been interviewed for Senior Living magazine and that article also mentions the Chicken Soup story.

It is almost time to update the events calendar on my website since I’ll be at the Surrey Art’s Council Craft show on October 1st and 2nd, lecturing at the Port Moody Library on October 12th and at the Surrey International Writer’s Conference on October 23, 24, 25.  Busy, busy, busy – but that’s the way I like it…..ahhuh….ahhuh….ahhub…….  Until the next update……ENJOY.  Joei
