September

Okay – who stole August.  If truth were known I would be the last person to complain about August, 2011.  I came home from Smithers, BC five or six weeks early because the weather had me down….and finally out.  The day I left the sun came out and I had a lovely ride home stopping at various Wal Marts and Michael’s Craft Store to do some bead shopping.

The weather here in Surrey for the month of August was spectacular.  I had never been home during the summer months but I’m told that this was unusual and I spent most hot days at the pool and cool days doing lots of walking….either way…..got myself back in shape.  Yes, I know, round is also a shape but not one that I’m happy with.  Got back to my writing group and even hosted one of our meetings.   Had several lunches out with Edith and invited her to lunch here and spent that afternoon doing bead work…..again…..enjoyed it and looking forward to doing that again.

In August I heard back from Chicken Soup for the Soul and my story He Shoots He Scores will be published in their book O Canada – due to be out in the real world on November 1st.  I signed up for a craft show on October 1st and 2nd at the Surrey Arts Council and was asked to submit a story for their October issue of the Spotlight Magazine.  A couple of days later I hand-delivered my story along with a picture taken in 1946 that they scanned into their computer to go along with that story.

I’m now making plans for next summer and joined the camping club RVing Women.  I’m going to my first Camping Rally in September in Leavenworth, Washington.  I have not been to a camping rally in YEARS and when I did go I remember really enjoying them…..nice people, always someone to talk to, perhaps a craft afternoon.  Anyway that’s what I’m going to be doing next summer…..going to camping rallies.  I’ll be joining one more camping club and that’s the Good Sam Club.  They too have rallies all over Canada and the U.S.  Time to meet some new people.

All in all it was a TERRIFIC August…..and I’m glad I didn’t stick with my plans to stay in Smithers…….Joei
